A few words about sisterhood... my sisterhood.
I absolutely love this photo. It captures the true essence of sisterhood, MY Sisterhood. These three women were courageous civil rights activists, bold trailblazers, compassionate leaders, and dynamic Sistas. They were educators, humanitarians, presidential advisors, a congresswoman and a presidential candidate! They were so much more than what I've listed here, and I would implore you to research them more on your own. They embodied what it means to be a DELTA Woman, "not self centered, not desirous of selfish power, not wanting the plaudits of people, not wanting glory - but with a purpose which directs her activities and all that she may control toward LIFTING SOMEBODY ELSE." (via Soror Mary McCleod Bethune, another remarkable woman worth researching)
These women are my heroes, and represent three of the reasons why I am PROUD to be a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Happy Founders Day, Sorors! Let us center our hearts, minds and actions on the Sorors who paved the way - and continue direct our activities toward "lifting somebody else." OO-OOP!
