Dania J. Wright, affectionately known as Fluffy Jo, is a San Francisco Bay Area-bred artist. In 2006, she graduated from Loyola Marymount University's School of Film & Television with a BA in Animation, and Studio Arts minor.
Wright has professional experience, ranging from graphic design to art instruction. Previously, she has worked for MTV Networks, the Clorox Company, BET and GAP, Inc. Wright has also taught visual arts in Oakland & Berkeley Unified School Districts, and San Francisco Bay Area non-profit organizations. Currently, she is a public relations and communications associate at The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
In 2007, Wright established Fluffy Jo, a line of wearable art. What started as a clothing company, has grown into a creative services studio.
I was fortunate to grow up in an artistic household. My mother is a super dope seamstress, and cake designer; my father is an exceptional sketch and airbrush artist. Their influence and support triggered an interest in the visual arts as early as age 3 (well, at least that's what my Mama said).
Throughout my childhood and adolescence, I experimented with different media; animation, graphic design, illustration, fashion design, digital photography, and fine art. I can honestly credit my short attention span to encouraging an intense exploration of the arts... which continues today.
I am most inspired by people, typography, bold colors, combining textures, asymmetry, metals, line art, concrete jungles, real jungles, fauna, flora, really good music, and noteworthy quotes. I enjoy putting my own twist on traditional portrait work as well as incorporating found objects into projects.
Feel free to check out my blog, and learn about who and what keeps me inspired! [and other random stuff... ]
